I will admit that I was skeptical at first about LibraryThing.com as I did not really see the point of collecting all of my books online, but then I discovered the recommendations feature and I had a sudden change of heart. Based on the 10 titles that I added, the system had 56 recommendations on other books that I might be interested in. And guess what - they were right, almost all of the books on the list were books that I would like to read, or had considering reading in the past.
I had another thought... LibraryThing.com might be a good place to collect books that I was interested in reading. I have the habit of arriving at a bookstore or library and can't think of one title that I want to read. I tend to aimlessly search the aisle, coming out mostly empty handed... unless by some miracle one of my favourite authors recently published another book!
LibraryThing.com would not be a place were I would record the books in my library, as I tend not to keep any books that I buy... and I mostly utilize the public library anyways!!! I will note that the third last time that I was at SPL, I saw two other U of S, library staff members there. How delightful!!!!
